Do you want to prepare together for the building of the Third Temple? Let's do it, now's the time! You are welcome to take an active part in the building of the Third Temple. Maimonides says it's a great mitzvah to build a home to God. We live in a special time, in which the People of Israel return to their land after years of exile. But are we ready to complete our mission and build the Temple? The last time the People of Israel returned to their homeland, they had trouble believing they were capable of building the Temple. On the first day of Elul, God revealed himself to Haggai and said: "These people say: 'The time has not come, the time that the Lord's house should be built'? My house that is in ruins, and you run every man to his own house? You sit in your houses covered and this house is in ruins? Go up to the mountain and bring wood and build the house and I will be pleased with it and I will be glorified in it!" (According to Haggai chapter 1). As we return to our land, we again feel unworthy – but we cannot escape the commandment, although it might be a very great mission. We want to start now, with what we can, using the descriptions and measures we do have. We pray that with the as we work for his dwelling, God will bless our intentions, complete our handiwork and reinstate the holy work in his Temple. In order to ready our hearts, we built a very impressive model of the Third Temple, located at the Mini Israel park. But we are not satisfied with models – we act, however we can. We're nearly done building real doors for the Temple's sanctuary (the heichal), and we're beginning to weave a curtain (parochet) for the Holy of Holies. Yom Kippur approaches us, and we would like to invite you to take an active part in weaving the curtain. Each donor will be sent home kit with colored wool, explanations on how to turn the wool into a thread, and a paid, stamped envelope. Through a very simple process (taking up to 90 minutes, and that can be done together as a family activity), you'll make the wool into a thread and send it to us. We, in turn, will weave your threads into the Holy of Holies' curtain. So for the sake of our Lord God's house – send us a thread thin as a needle, and with it God will open you an opening the size of a hall. Much like with the First and Second Temples, the finished products will not be sanctified until they're installed, to avoid halachic problems at the building stages.
